In May 2019 John graduated from Penn State Lehigh Valley with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Corporate Communication. While at Penn State Lehigh Valley John served as president of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. He led Lambda Pi Eta in community service projects including a stocking stuffer drive for homeless veterans, a collection drive for therapeutic art supplies and basic necessities for Valley Youth House, volunteering at Second Harvest Food Bank, and volunteering at the Mosser Village Family Center. At the Penn State Lehigh Valley Student Awards Ceremony in April 2019 John was honored to receive the “Heart of the Lion” Award (presented to a Penn State Lehigh Valley students who has overcome notable obstacles of any kind and has demonstrated grit, gumption, and sheer determination) and the Campus Engagement Committee Achieving Student Award (for demonstrated leadership and accomplishments on campus and in his local community).
John also holds an Associate in Arts degree in Communication Studies from Northampton Community College. While at the community college, John enjoyed participating in the political science club and the film club. He also volunteered with the League of Women Voters to encourage fellow students to register to vote.
Since 2010 John has be member of the Board of Directors for the Miracle League of Northampton County. He also serves as the assistant coach for the Miracle League Yankees team. In addition, John is a member of the Lehigh Valley Yankee Fan Club. He was honored by the New York Yankees during HOPE week in 2011.
John is an Eagle Scout and a member of the Troop Committee of the Minsi Trails Council Troop 362 at East Hills Moravian Church in Bethlehem. United States Senator Pat Toomey, Pennsylvania State Senator Lisa Boscola, and Pennsylvania State Representative Steve Samuel are among the dignitaries who attended and spoke at John’s Eagle Court of Honor.
John and his mother worship in Emmaus, PA at St. Paul Orthodox Church, a true spiritual home and a stronghold of Orthodox Christianity in the Lehigh Valley.
He enjoys giving presentations about his life and his book The Boy from Baby House 10.
